When did you build your wall?
First iteration was built the summer of 2014, just re-built last June when we moved to Lander, WY to fit in our little garage here. The wall has been with us in ID, Las Vegas, and now Wyoming.

How long did it take you to build?
The first one I built took probably 3 weeks of work.

Not including holds and padding, how much did it cost you to build?
Maybe $200? I don’t really remember but somewhere along those lines.

Did anything in particular inspire your wall design?
I wanted a moonboard for a long time, and once I got married and had a place of my own that was the first project that I completed! The first home we were in was a rental so I made the board a free standing board per our landlord’s request. Once we moved to Lander we were able to have it more fixed structure.

What was the most difficult aspect of the design and build?
Carpentry skills are not my forte, so making sure the wall would be structurally sound was a little intimidating. Still standing after all these years though.

    What would you do differently?
I wouldn’t really change much about the board itself, I would like more space for additional walls or if I had the ceiling height I would lie to make the angle of the wall adjustable.

    What is your favorite aspect?
I think the best part about the moonboard, or other home boards such as tension or kilter, is the ability to have boulder problems set by other people, so I have never been bored or stuck setting problems that suite my “style” or comfort.

Any words of wisdom to aspiring homewallers?
You don’t need very much space to have a set up that will keep you strong and having fun.
