Did anything in particular inspire your wall design?
We debated building outdoors vs in our short garage, but seeing folks like https://instagram.com/yvesgravelle and https://instagram.com/sillygoatholds train hard on short steep walls helped inspired us to go for the shorter but more accessible build.
What was the most difficult aspect of the design and build?
Our garage is small and very wonky. Not a plumb or level surface to be found. That plus a complete inexperience in carpentry made figuring out any angled cut take 10 times harder than we expected.
What would you do differently?
Our kick board ended up being very short, barely 6 inches. I’d build that first, make it at least 8 inches. Oh, and I’d wait to drill and T-nut until after framing to make sure we dodge the studs!
What is your favorite aspect?
We set holds randomly, and I’m surprised by how much I enjoy the creative challenge of finding projects on it and of course that thrill of sending!
Any words of wisdom to aspiring homewallers?
Be patient with the build process and have fun!
